This week we are learning about ratio's, percents, scientific notation, irrational and real numbers. Irrational numbers are any numbers that CANNOT be expressed as a fraction. Real numbers are all numbers that are on a number line. Scientific notation is something we can use to make very large or very small numbers to make them easier to deal with. for example take the number 10000 you need to count all the zeros and is should look like this. 1 x 10^4. Other numbers like 0.00089 you have to move the decimal point to make it a number between 1 & 10 so it would be 8.9 and since the zeros come first it should look like this, 8.9 x 10^-4. since you are moving the decimal point back to 8.9 that is what makes it a negative.
